Asher Wang Qi Chuen, 6

We all love cupcakes, don’t we? The tiny cakes in pretty paper cups are often a favourite treat at parties, special occasions and even school celebrations!

Cupcakes come in all sorts of flavours, from classic chocolate and vanilla to fun options like strawberry shortcake, lemon drop, cookies and cream, and red velvet cupcakes.

Another thing that is so good about cupcakes is the frosting on them! The sweet, creamy topping can be made in many different colours and piped in really creative designs.

Actually, decorating cupcakes can also be a fun activity for children and adults. Have you ever tried it? You can let your creativity flow and make these treats look as exciting as they taste.

Cupcakes are perfect for celebrations. Whether it’s a birthday, a holiday, or just a special family gathering, cupcakes add a festive touch. And, with cupcakes, every single person at the party gets their own little cake.

Nine-year-old Bethany Wang Qi Syuen likes all sorts of cupcakes. “My favourite will always be chocolate-flavoured ones, either with chocolate chips or chocolate sprinkles, but without too much icing. They are simply delicious for someone with a sweet tooth like me.”

Younger sibling Asher Wang Qi Chuen, six, says cupcakes are not only pretty, they taste good too.

“I like chocolate cupcakes with chocolate chips and strawberries. The chocolate is tasty while the strawberries are healthy, a nice treat for afternoon tea.”

“Last Sunday, my mother and I baked cupcakes. At first, I just watched my mother prepare the ingredients and paper cups, beating the eggs and many more. Then, my mum scooped the batter into the paper cups and put them in the oven to bake. She also added chocolate powder as she knows that I like chocolate. Once they were done, she took them out from the oven. They were scrumptious!” says Chng Yan Bei, eight.

“My cupcake may be simple, but it’s delicious. The base is a rich chocolate cake, topped with whipped cream flavoured with strawberry and chocolate. To finish, there’s a cherry on top,” writes Chuah Seng Koon, eight.

Eight-year-old Christabel Chew says: “My cupcakes are inspired by my favourite Sanrio character, Cinnamoroll. Inside, there’re whipped cream, colourful sprinkles and a gummy surprise. They smell wonderfully sweet and taste delicious too!”
