A match for the king of fruits

Durian is traditionally considered a “heaty” fruit and mangosteens are eaten as an antidote to “cool” the body down after one has consumed too many durians. This “heaty and cooling” way of eating the delicious fruits is well known to durian connoisseurs in Malaysia and many believe it works.

Durian and mangosteen, though unrelated botanically, are regarded as the King and Queen of fruits respectively. Their fruiting seasons fall around the same time every year and this could explain why they are eaten together. It is common for people to fall sick or suffer from sore throat after consuming excessive durian.
