The Finnish capital is building a tunnel under Helsinki Central Station for use by pedestrians and cyclists. Set to be completed by 2023, the tunnel hopes to decongest traffic in the city centre while encouraging more people to get cycling. Up to 10,000 cyclists could use the tunnel daily.

Located in the heart of the city, the "Kaisa" bicycle tunnel will be 220m long and will feature a four-meter-wide bicycle path running alongside a pedestrian sidewalk.
