Malaysian senior citizens more adept at using technology thanks to the pandemic

Since the first movement control order, Dr Katie Ang, 69, has picked up a new skill: online shopping. It’s been a unique experience for the Petaling Jaya-based woman who’s managed to buy food, clothes and household items with just a few clicks of the mouse.

“Incidentally, during the first MCO, I was in Seremban taking care of my two grandchildren as their kindergarten was closed. Being housebound with the kids, I had to rely on online shopping, ” said the sexagenarian, who, like many Malaysians, shifted to online shopping as many shops were closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
