The municipality of Stockholm has signed an agreement with Spanish company CityBike Global for the implementation of a new electric bike-sharing service in the city, expected to launch in spring 2022.

The Swedish capital is following a trend seen in several other major European cities already offering this type of service, starting with Paris, where there are 20,000 self-service bicycles.

Stockholm will have one of the largest fleets of self-service bicycles in Europe as of next year. For its part, CityBike Global already operates in Copenhagen, Rotterdam and Britain.

The 5,100 electric bicycles due in Stockholm will be supplied by the company Vaimoo.
