New York, New York! Do you want to wake up in a city that doesn't sleep? To find that you’re number one, on top of the list? Yes, as that famous Frank Sinatra song goes, New York City is a place that makes you want to be part of it.

There is a reason the Big Apple is one of the most iconic and most famous cities in the world. From being the location to some of the world’s biggest blockbusters to being the center of the economic world, this cosmopolitan metropolis often seems to be the centre of everything happening in the world.

This makes it the perfect city to be part of The Macallan’s Distil Your World, a series of limited edition single malt whiskies and gastronomic creations exploring leading locations around the globe.

The Macallan Distil Your World New York is an exceptional single malt whisky and documentary that captures the essence of one of the most iconic cities in the world.

Crafted by The Macallan Whisky Maker Polly Logan, this limited edition single malt continues The Macallan’s long-running collaboration with the famous Roca brothers, owners of El Celler de Can Roca, twice named Best Restaurant in the World.

For this new collaboration, Logan and Joan Roca travelled to New York together. There, they immersed themselves in the city’s culture in a bid to capture the essence of one of the world’s most creative and dynamic cities.

They eventually come up with an expression that embodies and celebrates New York City as a dynamic metropolis of art, creativity and visionary talent.

Logan and Roca also spent time with the artists who fuel its vibrant culture; the visionaries driving its inimitable creativity; and the thinkers chronicling the city.

These included globally acclaimed jazz musician Wynton Marsalis and legendary street artist Lady Pink, will be showcased in a new 30-minute documentary.

As for the whisky itself, Logan says it is a true “homage to the people of New York”.

Created from the perfect combination of six European and American oak casks, it builds on the subtle apple notes that are part of The Macallan’s signature style, thus making it a fitting tribute to the ‘Big Apple.

The nose is full of big apple notes, hints of classic American candies like peanut brittle and milk chocolate. You can even get hints of sweet and salty mix like a rising dough and a whiff of fresh rain on the sidewalk.

On the palate, the candy-like flavours come to the fore, with chocolate covered nuts, maple syrup and toasted waffles with a side of salted pecans, before ending with a medium-length finish with roasted nuts and sweet oak.

“This project is a homage to the people of New York. The daring, creative and diverse characters we’ve met along the way. This whisky is bold, vibrant and uplifting – just like each of them,” Logan said.

“We really looked towards the quintessential tastes of New York – sweet candy, waffles, peanut brittle, chocolate, and pecans. The city’s thriving street food scene was a great source of inspiration.”

Joan Roca said: “The originality of New York is endless, it’s impossible to portray it with just one creation, so we needed to express it through an extended menu, where every dish tells a story.

“The city grabs hold of you instantly. Its energy pushed us to create a complex and daring menu, with ideas that we explored for the very first time.”

Distil Your World New York comes in a striking white presentation box featuring an engraved aerial map of New York. Bold touches of blue on the box and bottle represent the water that surrounds the city and the buildings which reach into the sky.

Besides the whisky itself, the box also contains a luxurious book showcasing the different inspirations behind this single malt, and the craftsmanship involved in its creation, alongside rich New York photography.
