For the second year running, Malaysia craft beer brand PaperKite has won gold at the annual World Beer Awards.

One year after making history as the first-ever Malaysian craft brewery to win medals at last year's awards, PaperKite has followed up with another gold medal and multiple silvers at the 2024 edition of the World Beer Awards.

PaperKite Oatmeal Stout was awarded a Gold Medal in the Stout and Porter category, while its other signature beer styles Pale Ale, IPA and Copper Ale all won silver medals in various other categories.

“It feels really good to do even better this year at the World Beer Awards 2024. This goes out to the team who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes and, of course, to all of the beer 'kakis' who have supported us,” says PaperKite’s founder Alvin Lim.

"This achievement is the result of our team’s hard work. It shows that Malaysians can brew world-class beer,” adds PaperKite brewers Gilbert Ang and Jenny Wong. Wong is also the first female brewer in Malaysia.

Voted on by a panel of international judges, all industry experts in their own right, World Beer Awards is one of the most coveted awards in the global beer industry.

Breweries all over the world submit their beers for this competition three weeks before the award ceremony, which are then blind tasted and judged based on a number of criteria, including the appearance, aroma, taste, and alcohol by volume (ABV).

PaperKite also recently won Bronze medals at the Australian International Beer Awards 2024 for Copper Ale and IPA.

Launched in 2022, PaperKite currently has four core brews in their range – Pale Ale, Copper Ale, Oatmeal Stout and IPA — which are available at various locations around KL, including Tap Room KL, Taps Beer Bar, Farmer's Bar Subang, Jann KL, and more, as well as Drafted in Penang.
