Chinese New Year is just around the corner. To celebrate the occasion, why not treat yourself to special edition beauty products?

These festive packages come with festive designs to get you in the mood.

Bright, luminous skin

Fresh has introduced a limited-edition Kombucha Facial Treatment Essence that honours the Year of the Rabbit.

In Chinese culture, the rabbit is the fourth animal of the zodiac, and this nimble creature represents vitality, wisdom, and the steadfast pursuit of one’s dreams.

The essence is powered by potent ingredients like kombucha to provide antioxidant protection, neutralise free radicals and protect against triple pollution (digital, indoor, and outdoor), hyaluronic acid to hydrate and plump skin, mandarin peel extract to help promote an even complexion, and kigelia africana fruit extract to smooth skin texture.

For this limited edition packaging, fresh collaborated with paper-cutting artist Qiu Jia to bring this symbolic traditional folk art – one of the oldest handicrafts in China – into its design to signify prosperity and a bright future.

Throughout the limited-edition design, Qiu’s cutouts highlight fresh’s skin-activating ingredients with an artistic nod to the Year of the Rabbit.

Dr Dennis Gross Limited Edition Lunar New Year Alpha Beta Daily Peel, is a fast-acting, two-step daily treatment for those with normal or combination skin who want to tackle uneven tone or texture, fine lines or enlarged pores.

The product’s concentrated dose of five AHA/BHAs plus antioxidants and vitamins aim at lifting away dead skin along with excess oil and impurities, while improving uneven tone and texture.

To achieve flawless, perfectly balanced, smooth skin and immediate radiance, use daily in the morning and at night, and for first time users, apply it every other day until your skin acclimatises to the product.

Ingredients include glycolic acid, meant to reduce visible signs of ageing, lactic acid, a naturally-occurring alpha hydroxy acid that helps speed up cell turnover/cell renewal, salicylic acid, a beta hydroxy acid that exfoliates, reducing the number of pore blockages while building elastin and collagen, and chamomile, an anti-inflammatory that neutralises skin irritation and soothes.

Special edition skincare favourites

For the fifth year, Kiehl’s has partnered with famed illustrator, Shan Jiang, on their Lunar New Year limited edition collection.

Jiang's illustrations dress up Kiehl’s bestselling products such as Ultra Facial Cream, Calendula Toner and Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Mask.

The Ultra Facial Cream, one of the brand's star products, has a unique lightweight texture and lasting 24-hour hydration to leave skin softer, smoother and visibly healthier.

Formulated with renewable glacial glycoprotein and olive-derived squalane, this non-greasy, lightweight moisturizer recovers the skin barrier faster and delivers twice the hydration, even in the skin’s driest areas.

Tied to the Chinese lunar calendar, Lunar New Year is the most important holiday in China.

The artist, born in Shanghai in 1979, has his own illustration studio but before this, was a partner and creative director at London design company Shotopop, and has worked with numerous high-profile clients including Nasa, Hennessy, Nike, Apple, Nordstrom, Casio, Toyota and Volvo.
