Awards shows are not the only occasion for Hollywood stars to dress up. Film and television premieres also see some pretty glamorous looks on the red carpet.
From Los Angeles and London to Berlin, celebrities turned heads with their daring outfits.
Eye-catching colours were, of course, the top choice, but surprisingly, black worked just as well to capture attention. It was probably a matter of “all or nothing”, with these famous faces really committing to their own preferred theme.
Metallics were also favoured, along with contrast blocking – all of which helped in creating visual drama.
Here’s a look at a number of noteworthy looks. Rege-Jean Page, Lucy Liu, Gemma Chan, Evangeline Lilly and Kristen Stewart simply looked marvellous at their respective premieres.

You could say that Lucy Liu played with colour blocking at the premiere of Shazam! Fury Of The Gods in London. The actress stood out as her yellow Del Core gown clashed with the colour of the red carpet. — AP
Gemma Chan also favoured colour blocking. At the premiere of Extrapolations in Los Angeles, she appeared in a Louis Vuitton cut-out dress slashed with bands of different colours. — AFP
Idris Elba attended the premiere of Luther: The Fallen Sun in New York wearing a Gucci ensemble. It is not easy to pull off a broken suit (wearing a suit jacket with mismatched pants), but the actor certainly was successful. -- AFP
Cynthia Erivo sported a mirror look at the premiere of Luther: The Fallen Sun in London. Her Louis Vuitton dress reflected light, with a brilliant white fishtail train finishing off the ensemble nicely. -- Reuters
Evangeline Lilly dripped with crystal fringes at the premiere of Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania in London. The Naeem Khan design, which comprised a dress and cape, was all sorts of avant-garde. — AP
Helen Mirren has never been afraid to experiment with fashion on the red carpet. A good example is this un-named pink cloak for the premiere of Shazam! Fury Of The Gods in London. It ticks two trend boxes: Barbiecore and opamine dressing. -- AP
