Mother of two, model and actress Dani Maia’s daily routine is packed with school drop-offs and pickups, as well as after-school activities, making dressing comfortably an essential part of her day.

She describes her daily personal style as minimalist, but for events and evening wear, she goes for a more “elegant with a fun twist” look an homage to her Brazilian heritage.

When she is not working as has spare time, she engages in social work and volunteering with charities that are close to her heart, such as Rumah Amal Cheshire Selangor.

The KL-based Brazilian also recently ventured into performing Brazilian Samba.

“I’m a coffee drinker and the places you’ll usually find me shopping at in KL include boutiques around Bangsar, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, or online for some international threads such as Shona Joy, Sir the label, and Acler,” says Maia.

What is your favourite go-to look?

“Comfort meets cool” – nice fitting jeans, a cropped tank and sneakers.

What are your three must-have style/beauty items?

Biologic Recherche skincare, Chanel Rouge Allure lipstick and a statement handbag.

What trend would you most like to see disappear?

Personally I’m not a fan of the “distressed fashion” look and never have been, but to see it reach new extremes like the Balenciaga “Fully Destroyed” collection, it’s just too much for me, I’d be happy to see that trend disappear and never return again!

Who would you consider a style icon and why?

I think Princess Diana was a true icon of style. She was under the paparazzi spotlight from an early age and at a time when there wasn’t really any other high profile person being scrutinised as much as her, which was ultimately very tragic in the end.

However, during her prime, she made good use of her position of influence, especially to help worthy causes, while always looking so polished and well put together! We see so many trends that she pioneered coming back in style time and time again.

What are three key pieces everyone should have in their wardrobe?

A nice tailored blazer, well-fitting jeans and comfortable flats. I love Tod’s loafers for a comfortable yet chic look.
