Welcome to the new pullout that is all about watches.

Every month, StarChrono will bring you focused content revolving around horology.

It will feature an established name in their specialised field be it a watchmaker or a corporate figure, as well as news and happenings around the globe.

In our debut issue, we sit down with an icon in the world of luxury watches – Jean-Claude Biver – during his brief visit to Malaysia.

He speaks of his love for the complexity of a timepiece, his philosophy when it comes to watchmaking, the very first watch he owned (go ahead, make a guess) and an unfading horological passion that has driven him to launch his eponymous brand at 73.

Jean-Claude also introduces us to his son, Pierre, who has joined him in the watchmaking business.

Aside from the personality focus, you will find your favourite brands and new brands that may entice you, like BIVER, as well as the latest exclusive timepieces to look out for, such as the Laureato Green Ceramic Aston Martin Edition.

As the name indicates, it is a collaboration between Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin Lagonda.

We are also giving you a peek at the selections unveiled by TAG Heuer and Sinn Spezialuhren at the Watches and Wonders 2023 show in Geneva.

And there is a glossary to help you get familiar with the terminology.

So sit back and enjoy this feast for the eyes, a collection of functional designs that embody humans’ most valuable trait – the ability to combine art and technology to produce miniature marvels that fit around the wrist!
