Ad Time Sdn Bhd, a local watch distributor, has brought four series of Timex watch collections back to the Malaysian public.

To drum up some fanfare, the company held a “relaunch exhibition” at Mid Valley Megamall in Kuala Lumpur.

Earlier this year, AD Time obtained the licence to become the sole distributor of Timex watches in Malaysia.

The four series highlighted during the one-week exhibition, which ended on Monday, were the Peanuts Collection, Met Collection, Q Timex Chronograph Collection, and the UFC Collection.

AD Time marketing manager David Wang tells StarChrono that the Peanuts Collection is a tribute to the syndicated comic strip “Peanuts”.

“Apart from pleasing Peanuts’ fans, we also wish to bring some happiness and the feeling of freedom through this collection,” he says.

The collection offers various options for watch straps.

One can choose silicone, nylon or leather straps, Wang adds.

The Peanuts Collection on display at the showcase is centred on Snoopy, the main character of the Peanuts comic strip.

It also features a “Rainbow Paint” series, where the watches are flowery and colourful.

“This series is more suitable to be worn by children,” says Wang.

In the Met Collection, one can find prints of the famous works of Japanese and European masters from the 18th and 19th centuries.

It is a product of the collaboration between Timex and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.

“The artists include Utagawa Kunisada, Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Hiroshige from Japan, as well as Vincent van Gogh from Europe,” says Wang.

“You can find their art pieces on the watch straps.

“Among them are Kunisada’s The Water Margin, the well-known The Great Wave Off Kanagawa by Hokusai, One Hundred Famous Views of Edo ‘Plum Garden in Kamata’ by Hiroshige, and Self-Portrait with a Straw Hat from Van Gogh,” he says.

On the other hand, the UFC series celebrates the partnership between Timex and the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Wang says Timex has been the official timekeeper for UFC tournaments since 2021.

“The watches in this collection are octagon-shaped, representing the shape of UFC cages,” he points out.

The UFC timepieces on display have a hefty feel to them, reflecting the toughness of UFC fighters.

Meanwhile, the Q Timex Chronograph Collection offers up a combination of speed and nostalgia.

According to AD Time in a media statement, this collection is a reboot of the 1970s Q Timex.

“It is inspired by the original motoring watches that graced the tracks of Europe’s most iconic races.

“It features a black leather strap, with quick-release spring bars,” the statement details.

It is a sporty collection in general, and steel bracelets on some variants give the watches a retro touch.

Wang says that all the four Timex collections highlighted in the exhibition can be found in all Solar Time stores in Malaysia.
