Rado's new warranty upgrade is another milestone for the 'Master of Materials'

The yellow gold-coloured DiaStar Original, which has remained wildly popular since its 1972 debut, is updated and the first to be fitted with a Ceramos bezel.

Rado enthusiasts will no doubt be pleased with news of its warranty upgrade.

Those who buy new Rado timepieces now benefit from a five-year International Warranty, adding on to the maison’s reputation for creating watches that are built to last a lifetime.

That Rado has honed a sound reputation as Master of Materials is thanks to its often trailblazing use of unique, high resistance materials including high-tech ceramic, the proprietary Ceramos, sapphire crystal, stainless steel and titanium.

All of it serves to protect and highlight the Swiss maison’s sophisticated movements encased within their iconic timepieces, resulting in innovative and award-winning designs with an exemplary savoir faire.

The signature Rado anchor motif present on all of the maison’s watches is the hallmark of its brand values – stability, quality and security – as well as what it feels like to wear a Rado, knowing it is made to last.

Bringing together the best of engineering, chemistry and physics has allowed the brand to create landmark alloys and introduce existing ones into their designs.

This includes the use of tungsten carbide “hardmetal” in their 1962 DiaStar 1 model, the first watch ever to bring together a scratch-proof case and a sapphire crystal glass.

The maison also raised industry standards in extremely resistant sapphire crystal production, milling and shaping.

This features distinctly in the Captain Cook series, the signature box-shaped glass at once a perfect match for the rugged character of the watch.

The special and unmistakable feel of Rado High-Tech Ceramic, too, is just one of the many iconic hallmarks borne by the master of materials, with watch lovers agreeing that high-tech ceramic “feels like nothing else”.

Other technical improvements include the addition of polymer binding agents to allow injection-moulding, or the use of a titanium-nitride-based CVD treatment to create extremely resistant finishes that brilliantly emulate gold or other similar alloys.

Rado’s proprietary Ceramos is its result – an innovative composite material with the durable properties of ceramic combined with the lustre and resistance of a metal alloy.

The watchmaker’s innovative eye also saw a pioneering use of colour in its high-tech ceramic, asserting the manufacture’s expertise in the field of coloured ceramics and breaking convention from the dark, monochromatic materials.

One of the best representations of these innovations combined is the yellow gold-coloured DiaStar Original.

A Rado mainstay that has maintained its popularity since its 1972 debut, it is the first to be fitted with a Ceramos bezel and continues to be updated.

The confidence with which the maison has placed in its timepieces and innovation makes the five-year warranty an exceptional upgrade in the watchmaking industry, an added reassurance for Rado wearers while setting yet another exemplary measure for its contemporaries to follow.
