French flair: New to Malaysia, Beaubleu offers up three limited editions

Vitruve GMT Bleu.

Since its creation in 2017 by designer Nicolas Ducoudert, French brand Beaubleu embodies the desire to free oneself from codes through the culture of free time.

The round hands – inspired by the work of Galileo – are emblematic of the brand and contribute to the design of its automatic watches that are both aesthetic and highly symbolic.

According to its founder, watches with round hands are the result of two main considerations – time and experience.

Time is understood as a matter with which we interact, changing according to our perception.

From this perspective, the watch becomes much more than a simple tool or accessory; it transforms into a real object of experience, where everyone is free to interpret it according to their own sensitivity.

“The circle, being the starting point of any conceptualisation of space, from astronomy to the proportions of a classic painting, occupies a fundamental place in my thinking.

“This is how circular hands naturally emerged as an obvious choice, offering a new way of conceiving and understanding time,” says Ducoudert.

They give genuine personality to the watch and poetic reading of time by highlighting the beauty of the kinetic movement.

Where dauphine or baton hands point in one direction, the round hands indicate a position, a moment. During their course, the hands turn, cross and seem to fly.

They hence create a graphic in perpetual movement.

Beaubleu breaks free from the codes of classical watchmaking by combining singularity and design.

“We bring a second wind to the watch design based on surprise and creativity.

“Guided by (French poet) Baudelaire’s famous quote ‘the Beautiful is always strange’, our name can be translated as singularity that attempts to emancipate itself from classical codes.

“Blue, the color of Paris, is our main inspiration. Thus, this Parisian singularity is translated into Beaubleu,” the brand sums up.

For Beaubleu’s limited-edition Vitruve collection, inspiration is drawn from the works of Vitruvius, a Roman architect and engineer whose theory’s fundamental principles of harmony, rhythm and beauty are at the heart of the watches’ design.

The collection consists of three automatic models, for three temporalities, three moments. And the quest for beauty can be found in every detail of each watch.

The steel bracelet features an articulated steel blade design, which boasts softness, lightness and flexibility.

All the models have 39mm steel case and 20mm strap width.

VITRUVE DATE

This watch is inspired by everyday time, a repetitive time that sets the rhythm of the day for some, a reassuring time or a familiar landmark for others.

This time binds us to the present, pushes us to accomplish our actions over the course of the day.

This is why the model has been designed with the date at 6 o’clock.

Discreet and legible, the watch complication illustrates the passing of time while anchoring us to the present.

Brutalist architecture influences the Vitruve Date, which seems to be sculpted from a single block of steel.

The brushed steel dial blends into its matte and polished case.

It comes in two variations – steel dial and black dial.

Vitruve Origine Bleu.Vitruve Origine Bleu.

VITRUVE ORIGINE

This model is a reference to solemn time, both light and slow. A time during which the world seems to slow down, as we find ourselves in beautiful timelessness.

With its clever blend of ocher, cocoa and auburn brown, the Vitruve Origine has been designed to bring a touch of poetry.

Three circular hands turn on a double dial.

The first smoked dial is pad printed with Roman numerals and rests on the second guilloche dial with its velvet color.

The indexes seem to float, the ultimate appeal for all dreamers.

It has a guilloché dial in two variations – cognac and midnight blue.

VITRUVE GMT

This creation is an illustration of universal time.

In contrast to the day and solemn times that are intimate, this one opens a whole new perspective where two times become one, a time from here and elsewhere.

Composed of two hidden crowns, it reveals a GMT watchmaking complication by activating one of them.

Thus, the flange, stamped with 12 digits, turns and indicates the time in another part of the world.

It comes in two variations of lacquered dial – blue and British green.

The limited-edition watches are priced from RM4,505 to RM5,385.

Beaubleu watches are exclusively available from Red Army Watches located at Pavilion Kuala Lumrpur and 1Utama shopping centre in Petaling Jaya or go online at www.redarmywatches.com.my
