Children’s fashion has been elevated to designs beyond playful patterns and everyday basics, adopting ideas from its high-end luxury counterparts with a flair that rivals the adult runway.

For many luxury brands, every season now includes a full range for kids, using the same exquisite tailoring and attention to detail as adult collections.

For the Autumn/Winter 2024 season, opulent textures, bold prints and chic silhouettes that merge with playful elements feature in several collections, catering to the discerning tastes of fashion-forward families.

As these cute pieces make their way into stores, their adorable campaigns flood our social media feeds and appear on billboards and in magazines, each worth a shout-out of their own.

Interplay of contrasting materials and colours

Moschino Baby Kid Teen is a prominent line dedicated specifically to children and teenagers, and for this season, the range introduces the “Back to School!” theme, highlighting designs that are perfect for the kids’ daily routines.

The collection is all about meticulous attention to detail, with logo patches featuring playful elements like letters and math equations merging fashion with educational themes.

Pieces featuring the new “hand-drawn” version of Moschino’s Teddy bear make for several cute choices, while the collection also includes college-style garments.

The “Mini Me” selections within the line serve as a seamless bridge between the high fashion of Moschino Couture and the playful styles for younger ones.

This concept allows designs and graphics from the adult collections to be scaled down for older kids, creating a cohesive look across age groups.

Leopard print appears on shorts and cropped jacket sets, while hearts become both an optical print and buttons that adorn dresses, pants, and coats.

Slogans, a distinctive element of the brand, pop up on sweatshirts, adding a touch of irony even to the most essential pieces.

The Givenchy Kids collection offers a wide assortment of trendy junior looks which mix street-inspired and preppy essentials with the House’s signature Parisian-chic vibe.

Highlights within the collection range from collegiate-themed staples – varsity jackets, cardigans, plaid shirts and denim with all-over Givenchy lettering – to whimsical dresses perfect for special occasions and ringing in the holidays.

Streetwear-inspired silhouettes include a sporty fleece dress with a “G” badge in front, military-inspired khaki cargo pants paired with a black hoodie and a sleeveless jacket in recycled shearling with an all-over 4G motif.

The season’s party looks also channel a range of attitudes, moving from playful dressy silhouettes like black jackets with fluid black asymmetrical skirts with a contrasting sequin top embellished with 4G Swarovski strass.

For boys, comfort meets cool in layered, streetwear-inspired outfits: blue checks mix with preppy polos embellished with the brand’s signature, and black t-shirts bear gothic-themed graphics.

Outerwear includes fleece hoodies worn with the sleeves pushed up, with jackets and bombers to channel a cool attitude.

For dressier occasions, a tailored black suit jacket might be worn with a grey fleece shirt and monogram skate slip-on sneakers for a cool street-cool twist.

Sophisticated “mini-me” looks

Balmain’s collection features pieces inspired by the brand’s iconic adult ranges (as seen on the cover), including tons of bold logos, sequins and signature military detailing.

For girls, check out a gorgeous black Mini-me dress for made in a mid-weight cotton blend and woven with black lurex thread.

Its short cap sleeves, panelled bodice and a pleated skirt give it an elegant vibe while remaining age appropriate.

In the boy’s range, pieces like the metallic double-breasted blazer which combines a sparkling composition with refined finishing touches is perfect for special occasions.

Hooded puffer jackets made from recycled-polyamide and cute, functional joggers are also included in the collection.

Fashion stories

The Kenzo Kids range showcases a colourful collection influenced by the brand’s adult ready-to-wear, offering products for children up to size 14.

Designed for everyday activities from school to the weekend and right through to the end-of-year holidays, this wardrobe is built around four main stories.

The “Back To School theme” features Paris branded varsity jackets, baseball T-shirts with raglan sleeves and dresses based on the K-branded varsity jacket and more.

For the “Blue Jungle” theme, it is a reference to the brand’s jeans line and its indigo universe created by Kenzo Takada in the 80s.

“Kenzo Tour” celebrates the world of the globetrotter with a multitude of patches and embroideries that are a nod to the stickers on the luggage of frequent travellers.

It is also applied to clothing such as cargo trousers, an army-green bomber jacket, a down jacket, a Sherlock Holmes tartan shirt and sweatshirts.

In “Core Program”, looks which are consistent with each season incorporate the graphic elements that Nigo infuses into the adult ready-to-wear collection.

T-shirts, sweatshirts, sweatshirt dresses, polo or flared dresses, leggings and coach jackets are brought to life with the Boke Flower, the Elephant and the Varsity Tiger, reworked for winter in an American college spirit.
