Created in the “support local” spirit, check out what these homegrown names are offering during this meaningful time.

Homage to modern Malaysian fashion

Two local fashion names, Ms Read and Frankitas, have teamed up to celebrate Malaysia Day with a 12-piece collection which is a synergy of distinct design aesthetics and a tapestry of cultural pride.

The collection features kaftan dresses, kimono-inspired tops and palazzo-style pants all adorned with sophisticated traditional prints in vibrant colours.

Each piece is designed to be mixed and matched, providing endless styling possibilities that embrace both tradition and contemporary fashion sensibilities.

This partnership epitomises the essence of modern Malaysian fashion – a blend of traditional artistry and contemporary inclusivity.

Inspired by local delights

Handmade bath product brand Wunderbath is collaborating with Mr Dollar on an exclusive Kopitiam-inspired collection.

Photo: WunderbathFirst launched at Mr DIY’s “Bersama Satu” bazaar during Merdeka Day, the Wunderbath x Mr Dollar collaboration introduces fun and quirky bath treats that are vegan, cruelty-free and sensitive-skin friendly as well as affordably priced.

The collection includes the Birthday Cupcake bath bomb, the Malaysia Bunga Raya bath bomb and the Handmade Karipap Soap.

A lip scrub collection includes three tantalising flavours: Kopi Ais, Onde-Onde and Sirap Limau.

Enriched with rosehip oil for anti-ageing benefits, these lip scrubs offer a unique twist on self-care, with flavours that pay homage to Malaysia’s beloved drinks and desserts.

A celebration of national icons

In an homage to Malaysia Day, Duck announced the launch of its Malaysia Collection, featuring a reimagining of its beloved KL Duck Scarf that was launched in 2014.

The homegrown brand’s is celebrating its 10th birthday this year and this special edition will include new elements and iconic symbols from all over the country.

With fresh designs showcasing the vibrant essence of Malaysia’s diverse landscape, this year’s iteration incorporates unique elements from each of Malaysia’s 14 states and federal territories.

To further enrich the campaign, the brand worked closely with 14 Malaysian athletes, including bowler Datuk Shalin Zulkifli, track cyclists Shah Firdaus and Izzah Izzati, diver Wendy Ng, Paralympics table tennis player Chee Chao Ming, gymnast Farah Ann Abdul Hadi and others.

Traditional elements

Selberan’s latest jewellery collection celebrates Merdeka and Malaysia Day with pieces that pay tribute to our country’s rich cultural heritage.

The Batik range draws inspiration from the sensuous Parang Rusak and distinctive bunga kantan motifs commonly found in batik fabric.

Inspired by the intricate patterns of traditional Malaysian handwoven fabrics, the Songket collection captures the shimmering allure of songket’s gold and silver threads.

The Kebaya collection features interlacing geometric gold motifs, a contemporary reinterpretation of patterns found in traditional rattan weaving, while Saloma captures the timeless glamour of 1950s Malay cinematic classics.

Finally, the Charm collection features five charms that represent iconic symbols of Malaysian culture: Wau, Hibiscus, Ketupat, Turtle and Palm Tree.
