All of us are nostalgic about something, whether it’s our childhood or memories of a simpler time.

Hence why we are currently experiencing the revival of Y2K. An aesthetic that brings us back to a time of trends that went hand-in-hand with innovation.

Flashy, shiny clothes and accessories that have a ”cyber” element to them; baggy jeans, chunky shoes and baby tees have all made a fashionable comeback in recent years.

The style is unique because of its timelessness and the fact that it can be paired with almost anything.

It’s also distinctive in the way it incorporates technology from that time period, now in the hands of Gen Z, such as digital cameras, camcorders and even camera phones.

All over social media, one can even stumble upon pictures with the iconic warm fuzz and orange date stamp that was prevalent in every single photo taken in the 2000s.

The vibe that those vintage digital cameras produce is unmatched compared to the modern cameras of our time.

NewJeans, an iconic K-Pop girl group that is well known for their Y2K-esque concepts, can be seen during their OMG and Supernatural songs era.

The outfits in OMG mainly consist of the iconic denim “bunny-ear” cap by alt-rave brand WIA, baby tees and baggy jeans.

While the outfits of their Supernatural era are mainly inspired by 2000s hip hop with the high top Jordans, colourful bandanas and of course baggy jeans.

Gen Z pop icon, Olivia Rodrigo, incorporates many Y2K elements in her music videos and outfits.

A great example is her Bad Idea Right? music video where it was styled like a 2000s teen movie, the cast of the video also wore low-cut jeans, baby tees and Uggs, which were a popular footwear at that time.

When it comes to dressing the part, it’s honestly up to the wearer’s interpretation.

But the main elements are chunky shoes, baggy or low-cut jeans, baby tees or oversized T-shirts and funky shades.

Don’t forget to pair it with a digital camera of your choice.

To represent the colourful Y2K time period, accessorise yourself with a variety of vibrant accessories, pair it with bright eyeshadow and lip gloss and you’re good to go! It’s a look that anybody can pull off.

Now go ahead and relive those simpler times with your newly fashioned style and do make sure you have the most fun while you’re at it.
