In conjunction with the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company (which takes place this year), a Disney cruise ship will be homeported in Singapore from 2025.

The country will continue to be the ship’s homeport for five years from the commencement date.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was recently signed between the Disney Cruise Line and Singapore Tourism Board (STB). STB chief executive Keith Tan said that the arrival of the Disney cruise ship will have a positive impact on the country’s tourism sector, and is set to open up more job opportunities.

“Being a homeport to the Disney cruise, Singapore will be able to cater to the growing demand for ship-related services.

“The cruise will be an attraction itself. These spaces and activities are specially curated for cruisers of all ages,” he said at the signing event.

The yet-to-be-named cruise ship is expected to attract millions of holidaymakers from Singapore and around the world. It will likely feature themed restaurants and entertainment spaces, as well as interactive theatre shows.

The 208,000 gross-tonne vessel will be the largest cruise ship to call in Singapore, and can hold up to 6,000 passengers and 2,300 crew members. It is one of the first methanol-powered (a low-emission fuel) cruise ships in the industry.
