Looking for an exciting way to celebrate the holidays with your loved ones? Check out Immersive Winterland, a new attraction at i-City in Shah Alam, Selangor.

The edutainment centre is said to offer visitors a first-of-its-kind immersive experience, through the use of innovative multi- sensorial technology. There are several sections with different themes here, such as the Immersive Ski Simulator, the 360° Immersive Explorer, Exploration Cave and Blossom Odyssey.

Folks who wish to experience “winter” in tropical Malaysia can check out the Skii Scape and Snowballing sections.

At Blossom Odyssey, there are digital projections of flora and fauna which respond to touch, while at the Cave Exploration space, visitors can “see” and “hear” the sounds of ... prehistoric animals!

At the recent launch of Immersive Winterland, I-Berhad chairman Tan Sri Lim Kim Kong said that the centre “... marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of interactive edutainment. It’s not just about entertainment, it’s about crafting a dynamic, immersive learning environment that sparks imagination and fosters engagement.”

A jolly good time

Meanwhile, Resorts World Genting is offering a series of shows and activities to herald the festive season, beginning with the launch of its popular “Genting Winter Wonderland” at its indoor and outdoor theme park, Genting SkyWorld.

This time around, Santa’s Toy Factory can be found at the Kim Hua Atrium, which is decked with beautiful Christmas decorations. Visitors will be treated to shows like the Snowball Express by performing arts theatre SkySymphony, as well as meet the “Highland Heroes”.

Madison Square features lively dance performances, musical shows and carolling in the evenings on weekdays. The Lake Of Dreams and Liberty Lane are where you get to enjoy “snowfall” and free balloon modelling activities.

Besides that, Resorts World Genting has also launched A Minion’s Perspective, an international touring exhibition that features eight thematic zones. Held at the Pavilion Hall, this exhibition is not just for the young ones, but for adults too.

Five-in-one

The InterContinental KL is taking guests on a wonderful gastronomic journey. With the theme “An InterContinental Christmas Around The World”, the hotel is offering different culinary experiences at five of its spaces.

Get “transported” to Japan at Tatsu, and to China at Tao, while those who prefer to explore more of Malaysia can make their way to the Serena Brasserie.

Savour a typical English Christmas at Bentley’s Pub, and check out “Santa’s Workshop” at the OneSixFive Lounge.

Each of these outlets is currently running a special dining promotion, so head to the hotel’s social media pages (@intercontinental.kualalumpur on Facebook and Instagram), or log on to kualalumpur.intercontinental.com for details.

Additionally, the hotel has teamed up with HiiChiiKok Foundation, a Klang Valley orphanage, for the “Wishes Do Come True” toy drive for underprivileged children. Wishes have been handwritten by the children and placed as ornaments on the hotel’s Christmas tree.

Guests and visitors are welcome to pick up one of these ornaments, and make a child’s wish come true.

InterContinental KL is currently accepting new and unused toys too, as well as pre-loved children’s books from guests, which will then be distributed to charitable organisations and homes.

Christmas abroad

For those set to visit Hong Kong for the year-end holidays, head to Harbour City, where you will find over 100 massive figurines on display at various locations within the mall.

This is part of a Christmas campaign themed “100 CHRISTMAS LOVE 2000% BE@BRICK UP”, a joint collaboration between Harbour City and BE@BRICK, as well as Disney.

The campaign ends Jan 1, 2024, and features 53 140m-tall figurines of popular characters from Pixar, Spider-Man and Star Wars films, as well as Mickey Mouse and friends.

Collectors may also buy the figurines at the pop-up store, where other souvenirs will also be on sale. Part of the sales profits will be channelled to the Hong Kong Blood Cancer Foundation.
