With a goal to bring people together by reviving the “art of borrowing”, Hotel Indigo will be launching an initiative called “Borrowed By Hotel Indigo” at its Kuala Lumpur property on Feb 1.

The campaign is currently ongoing at various Hotel Indigo properties across South-East Asia, such as Bali (Indonesia), Bangkok and Phuket (Thailand) and Singapore. Properties in other countries like Australia, Britain and the United States will also be participating in the programme.

As part of the campaign, guests staying at any participating hotel are allowed to borrow certain items that may allow them to explore the local destination – without extra charges. This can help to foster a sense of shared identity as it enables travellers to discover the local culture, tradition and flavours.

According to a global survey run by the hotel, 73% of guests believe that their hotel’s connection with the local neighbourhood plays a role in their travel experience, as it inspires visitors to explore and try new things.

Guests at Hotel Indigo Kuala Lumpur On The Park, for example, can borrow a pair of binoculars from the hotel to use when they visit the KL Forest Eco Park, which is right next door. Other items on the list include a Polaroid camera and a sarong, which guests can wear to “blend in” with the locals.

In Thailand, guests at Hotel Indigo Phuket Patong can borrow a pair of boxing gloves and try their hand at boxing. Other items are a yoga mat and handcrafted wooden games set.

As for Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong, there are tiffin carriers that guests can borrow to keep local treats in, while at Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach, guests can either don a traditional outfit or borrow a rash guard and get some surfing lessons at the beach.
