Malaysia has earned the recognition as “Destination Of The Year” at the recent Tripzilla Excellence Awards 2024.

“As Malaysia celebrates this remarkable achievement, we warmly invite travellers to explore our nation’s unique charm, exceptional hospitality, and the myriad of experiences awaiting discovery,” says Datuk Manoharan Periasamy, director general of Tourism Malaysia, in a press statement.

He adds that receiving the title “has been an honour”.

An extensive voting process involving travel enthusiasts is used to determine the winners.

This year’s event, which also marks TripZilla Excellence Awards’ 10th anniversary, is the largest to date with a record number of nominees and voters, which culminated in over 60 awards.

Earning the Destination Of The Year accolade not only acknowledges Malaysia’s exceptional tourism offerings that encompass both urban- and nature-themed attractions as well as sustainable tourism practices, but also boosts the anticipation for Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

The upcoming tourism campaign, which is eyeing a target of 35.6 million foreign tourist arrivals with a target receipt of RM147.1bil, is meant to promote Malaysia on a global stage and attract tourists from all over the world.
