The upcoming Visit Selangor Festival 2024 will not only promote the state to tourists but also serve as the grand launch of Visit Selangor Year 2025 (VSY 2025).
Tourism Selangor chief executive officer Azrul Shah Mohamad announced at a press conference held yesterday at 1 Utama Shopping Mall that the festival is set to be held from Dec 20 to 22 at Setia City Park, Setia Alam.
The highlight of the festival is the Visit Selangor Year 2025 Concert that will take place on Dec 21.
Artistes, both local and international will be performing at the concert. Among them are Zubir Khan, Suki Low, Ora Fiza, Ameng Spring, Amy Search, and Aizat Amdan, who also lent his voice to VSY 2025’s theme song, Surprising Selangor.
Cakra Khan, the Indonesian singer who participated in America's Got Talent, and a mystery singer from South Korea are also be part of the lineup.
The concert will include performances by Zeppo Youngsterz, Fita Dance Theatre, and a Mah Meri dance group that will showcase the many types of dances, from traditional to modern, found in Malaysia.
Themed “Food, Leisure, Music”, the festival will additionally feature Fun Walk, which is a casual stroll around Setia City Park; OOTD Spot, a designated zone for capturing Instagram shots; Food Fest, a food festival showcasing a variety of local dishes; and a special donation for flood victims.
Of course, there will also be a travel exhibition promoting Selangor’s tourist destinations, to boost tourism in the state in line with VSY 2025’s vision.
VSY 2025 is the follow-up to the previous initiative held in 2015. Explaining the slogan “Surprising Selangor”, Azrul said, “It is because Selangor is full of surprises.”
Sky mirror, paddy fields, eagle feeding and paragliding are some of the activities Azrul highlighted as the state’s interesting attractions.
He added that he hoped to see more tourists discovering the many wonders and hidden gems of Selangor through the Visit Selangor initiative.
Over 50 promotional campaigns and more than 60 travel activities will be held across Selangor under the initiative, which aims to generate RM11.7bil in revenue from 8mil local and international tourists.
