SKATEBOARDERS in Subang Jaya, Selangor, can now enjoy a better facility following the upgrading of a skatepark in USJ 1.

The Subang Jaya assemblyman’s office had urged the Selangor State Sports Council (MSNS) and Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) to upgrade the deteriorating facility at Laman Sukan USJ 1 Public Park in Taman Subang Permai.

MSNS allocated RM95,500 for the project.

Subang Jaya assemblyman Michelle Ng said, “The skatepark has become a hub for skaters coming from neighbouring areas such as Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam, Puchong and even Ampang.”

Construction work began on Nov 14 last year and was completed last month.

The contractor and consultant inspected the site to ensure it met all specifications.

To mark the upgrading, the assemblyman’s office, Penggerak Belia Selangor Subang Jaya and Zon 4 Residents Representative Council are organising a contest offering prizes worth RM15,000.

“The first Subang Jaya Skateboarding Competition is scheduled to take place in June.

“Registration details will be announced later,” said Ng at the skatepark.

Also present were MBSJ Corporate Communication director Muhammad Azli Miswan and councillor Kamarul Hisham Yeop Hashim.
