THE Sultan of Selangor’s Cup (TSSC) promotional tour series held two more stops – at Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) and Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ).

TSSC 2024 chairman Tan Sri Abd Karim Munisar handed over match tickets and tournament T-shirts to MPS president Shahman Jalaludin and Subang Jaya mayor Datuk Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim.

Several veteran Selangor players were also invited to enliven proceedings.

Shahman said, “Malaysians are passionate about football because of these legendary names.

“I would like to thank these veteran players for their services and sacrifices.”

Abd Karim highlighted the significance of Merdeka Stadium as venue for the 20th edition of TSSC on Aug 17.

“Merdeka Stadium has seen many legends such as Mokhtar Dahari, Santokh Singh, Soh Chin Aun and R. Arumugam.

“There, they helped the national team qualify for the 1980 Moscow Olympics,” he said.

(However, Malaysia alongside several other nations withdrew from the Games due to the 1979 Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.)

Abd Karim said the match would help bring back the nostalgia of previous Selangor-Singapore matchups.

“Aug 17 will surely be an unforgettable night,” he said, adding that there would also be entertainment featuring popular stars such as Jamal Abdillah. — By HAZEL TAN YAN LING
