THE 10th edition of IJM Land’s Half Marathon in Seremban 2, Negri Sembilan, saw a record turnout of some 12,000 participants.

This year’s event was themed “10 Years of Miles, 10 Years of Memories” to commemorate 10 years of the run.

The celebration saw participants taking part in various categories including the 21km half marathon, 12km races and a 5km fun run.

IJM Land Bhd senior general manager Chai Kian Soon said the event had become a platform to promote healthy lifestyles and a community spirit.

“The marathon has grown into a prominent annual event and we are proud to celebrate a decade of this half marathon that reinforces our commitment to health and community.

“This event would not have reached its 10th year without the support of the community and passionate runners who have always shown their dedication.

“For that, we are grateful to see so many people coming to support one another towards good health and togetherness,” he said.

Chai said the event also supported charitable causes and environmental sustainability, which reflected the company’s values as a responsible corporate citizen.

“We invite everyone to continue supporting the IJM Land Half Marathon as we look forward to more years of milestones and memories.

“Together, we can make a positive impact,” he said.

Present to give away the prizes at Dataran Centrio was Negri Sembilan Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

Apart from the winners’ prizes, IJM Land contributed RM42,500 to the state hospice, Malaysia Lysosomal Diseases Association and Negri Sembilan Arthritis Association.

Cash prizes totalling RM6,000 were also awarded to schools based on the highest number of participants.

The event also emphasised environmental sustainability through effective waste management services and other green activities.

To encourage secondary school students to embrace outdoor physical activities and foster friendships, the developer organised a “Students Run Together” contest which garnered good response from schools.

A total of 150 prizes worth RM28,000 were given away during a lucky draw.

These prizes included an Apple iPhone 15 Pro, MacBook Air, Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer and a health screening package.

There was a carnival-like atmosphere at the event, which included performances by clowns, activities like face painting and free treats such as popcorn, ice cream and isotonic drinks.

There were also interactive games such as the Simulated F1 Car Race, Coconut Bowl, and Ping Pong Shoot, ensuring a day of fun for participants and their families.
