Traders allowed to operate near station

Temporary site: The petty traders selling their wares in Lorong Lumut in George Town.

TRADERS at the Lebuh Armenian flea market in George Town who have been asked to move due to the upgrading of the Armenian Park will be allowed to continue operating at a lane near the Central police station.

Penang Island City Council Licensing and Public Health Standing Committee alternate chairman Ong Ah Teong said traders could operate at the lane indefinitely.

“We have alternate sites in mind but it’s too far from the present area and I’m sure the traders wouldn’t want to move too far away,” Ong said after a dialogue session with the traders at the George Town World Heritage Incor-porated office.
