Penang students create waves in Denmark with invention to curb jellyfish attacks

A TEAM of nine students from Penang beat 118 other teams from 50 countries in an innovation contest held in Denmark by figuring out how to tackle jellyfish invasions.

They invented a floating kelp farm to create barriers of darkness, which jellyfish do not like, to keep them out of seawater intake pipes and beaches frequented by swimmers.
