THE COVID-19 pandemic has hit the aviation industry very hard, nearly bringing to a standstill the passenger traffic, air cargo demand, the airport workforce and the retail services at the terminals. The Penang International Airport has not been spared too.
Except for a staff cafe that remains open on the ground floor, many restaurants and souvenir shops in the airport are closed with no passengers or visitors in sight.
