Two new councillors sworn in

BRINGING gender inclusiveness and minority ethnicity to the front, this year’s two new additions to the local council are a man of Thai background and a woman who wants to ensure there is equality.

Newly sworn-in councillor John Ooh Sin Hwa from United Buddhist Order of Penang said it was an honour not just to be joining the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) councillor lineup as a representative from the Buddhist community, but also as a Siamese minority in Penang.
