SEVEN limited-edition Bluetooth-controlled model racing cars will represent seven significant moments in Shell’s motorsport history.
Take the Hyundai i20 for example. Shell mobility Malaysia general manager Seow Lee Ming said, “The Hyundai i20 hybrid rally car won the latest World Rally Championship (WRC) in Greece and has secured victories in all terrains, which are gravel, snow, mixed and tarmac.”
Another notable model in the collection is Team Penske’s IndyCar, which according to Seow, is a trailblazer in the Indycar circuit and boasts a 100% renewable race fuel with a reduction of greenhouse gas emission by 60%.
The special collection was launched by Shell as part of its latest offering from its motorsports series, featuring cars from some of Shell’s most prestigious partnerships in the motorsports arena.
Aside from the Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC and Team Penske IndyCar, the other highlights in this latest range are Ferrari SF90, BMW M4 Motorsport, Nissan Formula E Gen 2 Car, Shell V-Power Racing Team Ford Mustang GT and Team Penske Ford Mustang GT.
The Shell Motorsport collection has a special feature -- the proprietary Smart Battery which integrates a Bluetooth chip within a rechargeable lithium cell, developed in partnership with BrandBase and 12 rights holders such as Ferrari, BMW, Hyundai, Ford and Nissan.
The limited-edition Bluetooth remote-control cars will be released one model per week exclusively at Shell stations nationwide. They are available from now until Dec 8.
Each of these cars can be seamlessly controlled using a smartphone via the Shell Racing app.
The free app is available on the App Store and Google Play.
The car models are available separately. The collectible car is sold at RM30 with a minimum fuel purchase of RM50.
The Bluetooth Smart Battery is also available for sale.
Shell customers can get the exclusive Ferrari SF90 racing car and one Smart Battery for free when they buy selected Shell Helix Lubricant 4L at Shell stations.
Alternatively, enthusiasts can purchase the Motorsport Collectors Box at RM80 when they pump RM80 worth of Shell V-Power Racing fuel in a single receipt.
To commemorate the launch of this new collection, Shell is organising an event at Mid Valley Megamall, Kuala Lumpur, from Oct 26 to 30, to give the public an exclusive experience to test out all seven racing car models from the collection on racetracks designed specifically to present each car in their winning atmosphere.
On display at the event is a life-size replica of the legendary Hyundai i20 WRC car.
