GE15: Tian Chua making a comeback in Batu?

AFTER being introduced as the P115 Batu candidate by the moderators of an online debate programme, Tian Chua neither confirmed nor denied his potential candidacy.

The former Batu MP’s introduction as a candidate for the parliamentary constituency stirred up interest that he could be making a comeback in the 15th General Election (GE15).

The PKR member was one of the debaters in the "Malaysia at the Crossroads" online programme earlier Thursday evening (Nov 3), along with Batu Independent candidate Siti Kasim.

Although he had earlier expressed interest to run for the Batu seat again, PKR had named Batu incumbent MP P. Prabakaran to defend the seat in GE15.

When asked if he would still contest the seat, be it as an Independent or under another party, Tian Chua stayed tight-lipped and refused to answer the question. He was Batu MP for two terms from 2008.

Batu is already seeing a multi-cornered tussle as social media influencer Nur Fathiah Syazwana, or “Cleopatra” as she is better known, joins Siti Kasim as the second Independent candidate for Batu.

Parti Warisan has announced that it is fielding Naganathan Pillai, while PAS’ Azhar Yahya will contest on the Perikatan Nasional ticket.

As for Barisan Nasional, its chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had on Tuesday named MIC vice-president Datuk A. Kohilan Pillay as Batu candidate.
