Selangor government will provide four additional water pumps to boost Shah Alam City Council’s (MBSA) flood mitigation efforts.
The installation and locations of these water pumps will be coordinated by the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID).
Two units will be located in Taman Sri Muda in Section 25, one at the MBSA pump station in Section 13 and another in Taman Mesra Section U1.
“These pumps are a preliminary step to reduce the risk of flooding due to heavy rain,” MBSA Corporate and Public Relations Division said in a statement.
At the same time, the state government had agreed to a proposed flood mitigation project that was drafted in the Shah Alam Sustainable Urban Drainage Master Plan (SAsud), the statement added.
The plan will kick off with four projects: upgrading pumps and related infrastructure works in Sections 13 and U1; building a pump house in Persiaran Aman and related infrastructure works in Taman Sri Muda, Section 25; building a pump house in Jalan Saksama 25/29 and Jalan Hikmat 25/35 and related infrastructure works in Section 25 as well as repairing and upgrading the sewerage system and related works in parts of Kampung Bukit Naga, Section 32.
All projects will be implemented through open tender, MBSA added.
