Selangor government plans to build more than 45,000 Rumah Idaman units to boost home ownership among middle-income earners.
Two developments under the initiative have received encouraging response.
The projects – one in Kajang and another in Bukit Jelutong comprising some 2,000 and 1,260 units respectively – sold out within weeks of being launched.
Permodalan Negeri Selangor Bhd (PNSB) chief executive officer Raja Ahmad Shahrir Iskandar Raja Salim said several areas had been identified to build more such homes.
“They include districts such as Petaling, Gombak, Kuala Langat, Klang, Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam,” he said during the launch of Rumah Idaman Melur at the KITA@Cybersouth sales gallery in Dengkil, Selangor.
The development is set for completion in the fourth quarter of 2026 and consists of more than 1,400 units priced at RM250,000.
Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the development was a collaboration between PNSB and LBS Bina Group Bhd through its subsidiary MGB Bhd.
“The project is meant to provide better living conditions and good facilities, especially for those staying near urban areas.
“The location is easily accessible and is near hospitals, education institutions, public transportation systems and commercial areas,” he added.
The units, to be partially furnished, measure 1,000sq ft with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, are built on a 0.84ha site.
These homes, noted Amirudin, were part of 5,000 Rumah Idaman units that were either already completed or currently under construction.
On June 21, StarMetro reported the Mentri Besar as saying that more than 30,000 such homes were awaiting planning approval from local authorities.
Also present at the launch were LBS Bina Group Bhd executive chairman Tan Sri Lim Hock San, Sepang Municipal Council president Datuk Abd Hamid Hussain, Sepang district officer Khairi Azali Ibrahim and Dengkil assemblyman Adhif Syan Abdullah.
