SELANGOR Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (Pakatan Harapan-PKR) says more efforts are needed to improve the economy, education and public transport, amongst others in his five-point manifesto for Gombak in Taman Samudera, Batu Caves.
Amirudin launched the manifesto themed "Gombak Declaration of Pride, Five Pledges for Five Years" on Thursday (Nov 10).
His manifesto revolves around five key points, namely the local economy; affordable housing; sustainable infrastructure; education and jobs; as well as equal opportunities.
Amirudin said it was also time to empower women as the backbone of the local economy in Gombak with the aim to increase household income.
"We also need to develop R&R areas for ehailing businesses through public and private community ventures.
"We also plan to increase urban farming with agricultural technology," he said.
On affordable housing, Amirudin said the government would ensure 1,660 affordable houses are built at Bayu Residensi@Sri Temenggung in Gombak.
"We will also resolve the strata ownership issue for those in Hulu Kelang, mainly in AU1, AU2 and immediate surrounding areas," he said.
He also said there were plans to build a mini sports complex to turn Gombak into a hub for youth.
"Other plans include a senior citizens' complex with outdoor facilities for exercise, light sports and a green area.
"Another plan is to upgrade existing public health clinics for public convenience," he said at Pakatan's operations room in Taman Samudra, Batu Caves.
Amirudin also said to realise Gombak's economic potential, there is a need to attract domestic and foreign investors that would offer quality employment.
"Our aim is to position Gombak as a hub for technical training through a collaboration with private education groups and the Selangor Technical Development Centre," he said.
Amirudin also reiterated his pledge to expedite and enhance the development of basic infrastructure and public facilities to ease the movement of the people and drive the development process.
The Pakatan Harapan coalition comprises PKR, Parti Amanah Negara, DAP and is also working with Muda.
Amirudin (PH-PKR) will face three-term Gombak MP Datuk Seri Azmin Ali (PN-Bersatu); Gombak Umno chief Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omar Din; Putra's Datuk Dr Aziz Jamaludin Mhd Tahir and Independent candidate Zulkifli Ahmad, a retired engineer.
