COLLEGE students, who are first-time voters aged 18 to 20, want to venture into business and be their own boss.
Dr Daroyah Alwi, who is contesting in the Kapar parliamentary seat in Selangor under the Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) banner said she came across fresh graduates running stalls at open-air food courts such as Hangri Port and Lubuk Makan in Kapar.
The Sementa assemblyman added many were interested in short courses on entrepreneurship.
She plans to introduce such courses to help these youths succeed in their business ventures.
"I want PBM to be part of youths' journey in entrepreneurship,” she said after giving out campaign flyers to parents outside SK Sungai Serdang, 13th Mile, Jalan Kapar in Klang.
Dr Daroyah, who is a dentist, is a former PKR member who relinquished all her positions in the party including as Selangor Wanita PKR chief in
2020.
Kapar, which is a town in Klang district, has 188,095 voters, including 12,391 Undi18 ones.
Malays make up 128,086 of the electorate, Chinese (28,605), Indians (26,636) and others. 4,768.
There is a seven-cornered fight in Kapar with Dr Daroyah facing incumbent Datuk Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid (Pakatan Harapan-PKR), Dr Halimah Ali (Perikatan Nasional-PAS), Muhammad Noor Azman (Barisan Nasional-Umno), Mohd Pathan Hussin (Gerakan Tanah Air-Pejuang), Datuk Seri Rahim Awang (Warisan) and independent candidate Datuk Seri Sevelinggam V. Ponniah.
