GE15: Segambut candidate to push for govt clinic in constituency

THERE are close to 120,000 voters in Segambut but not one government clinic.

As such, Perikatan Nasional candidate Prabagaran Vythilingam said he would push for a government clinic to be set up in the constituency if he was elected.

"The people's health is important and a government clinic here is essential," he told StarMetro during an interview in his war room on Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Kuala Lumpur.

The 51-year-old Kedahan, who founded a security company, also vowed to look into improving education policies as well as eradicating urban poverty in the country.

"Every Malaysian should be entitled to a fair chance in education, without any quota system," he said.

The Gerakan man said the people he met on his campaign trail spoke about the area's flood problem, their financial burden, traffic jam and poor rubbish collection.

Prabagaran said he managed to help solve a problem for roadside traders and business owners on Jalan 6/42a of Taman Kok Doh who had complained about the hazard posed by two huge trees.

"The business owners came to me and I have asked Kuala Lumpur City Hall to trim the trees," he said.

Shopowner Yong Mon Mooi, 68, was among those relieved to see the trees had been trimmed.

"There was a risk that the trees might topple onto the shoplots in a thunderstorm, and we had been on our toes in this monsoon season," she said.

Prabagaran is contesting against Segambut incumbent Hannah Yeoh (Pakatan Harapan-DAP) and Daniel Ling Sia Chin (Barisan Nasional-MCA).
