KUALA Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is introducing two additional routes under its GoKL free bus service, starting Dec 15.

With the two new routes, the GoKL now serves 13 routes with DBKL targeting to introduce two new routes each year, said Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Mahadi Che Ngah.

“The new routes services more residential areas and public housing communities for ease of movement.

“The buses will stop at frequently visited areas such as government clinics and train stations,” he said during a ride on the two new routes this morning.

He added that the routes would be evaluated and reassessed to ensure it met the needs of commuters.

“For example, we may consider using shorter buses in some areas where the residential roads are narrower and harder to navigate.

“At the moment, the GoKL buses are 10m and 13m long,” he said, adding that DBKL has a fleet of some 60 buses.

The routes will be officially launched on Saturday (Dec 17).

The cream line route will connect Taman Fadason to MRT Sri Delima, while the magenta line buses will travel between MRT Jinjang and Matrade.

Cream line buses will pass through Flat Mutiara Fadason and stop at Laman Rimbunan Kepong, as well as Klinik Kesihatan Jinjang, PPR Sri Aman Jinjang, Kepong commercial centre and Brem Mall.

The magenta line route will include Segambut KTM Station, Matrade, Publika and several residential areas.

The buses would ply on a frequency of 15 minutes during peak hours and 30 minutes during non-peak hours.
