Educational outing for 90 schoolchildren

SP SETIA Foundation, the charity arm of property developer S P Setia, hosted an educational outing for a group of 90 primary schoolchildren with the aim to promote creativity beyond the classroom.

The 90 pupils were from SK Semenyih, SJK (C) Kampung Baru Semenyih and SJK (T) Ladang Rinching, which are schools adopted under the foundation’s Setia Caring School Programme, as well as SK (Asli) Bukit Tampoi, Dengkil.

Students enjoyed watching local animation movie Mechamato, which is about a boy named Amato who becomes master to a robot that transforms ordinary objects into high-tech devices.

This was followed by an educational play session at Toy8 Playground, an experiential playground focused on early intervention for children.

“We hope to play a role in shaping them to be future leaders,” said SP Setia Foundation Chairman and SP Setia Bhd director Datuk Zuraidah Atan.

“We want them to know that despite their hardship, they live in a country where people are kind, care about their well-being regardless of skin colour or social status, and will nurture their intelligence, skills and talents so they can grow up to be positive contributors to this nation’s advancement,” she added.

SJK (T) Ladang Rinching headmistress Uma Perumal said the outing was a great experience for the pupils as the activities were exciting and stimulating.

“The movie Mechamato was very inspiring, which will motivate the students to be innovative.

“The play session at Toy8 allowed them to learn skills from a range of activities such as building a robot, top and yoyo,” she added.
