ELECTED representatives across the political divide have been urged to work together to bring more investments to the state.
Perak investment and corridor development committee chairman Loh Sze Yee said there was nothing wrong for assemblymen, including those from the Opposition to attract investments to Perak.
“The strategy is to develop the state, not just constituencies on the government side.
“Whatever form of investments is fine as long as they can develop the state’s economy. We work for the people,” he said during the question- and-answer session at the Perak State Assembly in Ipoh yesterday.
“Let us all forget the past and move forward,” he added.
He lauded former state investment committee chairman Datuk Shahrul Zaman Yahya (PH-Rungkup) for doing a good job in laying the foundation to attract investments to the state.
“If any YB (Yang Berhormat) has investor contacts or want to find investors for their areas, contact InvestPerak or other related agencies like Northern Corridor Investment Authority (NCIA) and Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida) or come to my office.
“We can work together for the benefit of the people,” he added.
In his reply to V. Bavani (PH-Malim Nawar) on the amount of foreign investments that had been brought into the state between 2018 and 2022, Loh said RM5.2bil poured into the manufacturing sector through Mida while NCIA had attracted foreign direct investments worth RM2.6bil since 2018.
He also said the state had prepared several incentives and schemes to encourage foreign investors to come to Perak, including the SilverValley Prepackaged Incentive and Mida’s Project Acceleration and Coordination Unit (Pacu).
“There are also some online modules like electronic Manufacturers Licence, eInsentif and online application for import and sales duty exemption to expedite the approval process required for factory licences and tax exemption to facilitate the implementation of projects.
“Trade missions will be held to further promote the state,” he added.
