A GROUP of eight MBA students, calling themselves “Team Ace” raised funds to help flood-prone Kampung Jawa villagers in Hulu Langat, Selangor.

For the project, the UKM-GSB (Graduate School of Business) students teamed up with main sponsor Malaysian Technology Development Corporation to gather public donations.

The funds the team raised went towards buying a fibre boat, several inflatable boats, emergency kits, and essential items for villagers to prepare them for any floods.

Earlier this month, the items were presented to the village head.

The team also arranged for the Bandar Tun Hussein Onn firemen to educate the villagers on safety measures in the event of flooding.

This was followed by a gotong-royong session by villagers and MTDC volunteers to clear areas that could potentially clog drains and indirectly contribute towards flooding.

Team Ace comprised Nursyahirah Hasan, Jalela Sathar, Muhammad Hussaini Mohd Mustafa, Amirah Atiqah Nazmi, Nurul Alyea Afiefa Ayob, Choo Qin Xiang, Muhammad Faez Mohd Ghaus and Fadhil Mohamad.

Also present were MTDC deputy director Nurliza Ramli, UKM senior lecturer Dr Roslan Ja’afar and MTDC senior vice-president Mansor Harun.
