BY COMBINING a clinic and a wellness centre in a building, MediCap Sdn Bhd aims to “revolutionise the modern medicine landscape in Malaysia”.

It recently opened its clinic at Taman Perindustrian Pusat Bandar Puchong, Selangor.

It was launched by Puchong MP Yeo Bee Yin and attended by Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing’s special functions officer Lim Kai Hau and Medicap founder and chief executive officer Lim Chin Hau.

Also present were Medicap management team members including chief operations officer Bennet Sigat, chief marketing officer Viyern Ngew, chief sales officer Mohd Adnan Muhammad, Milaya product specialist Michael Ang Ngee Leng and Wellness Centre Puchong head Dr Yap Sher Linn.

In 2021, a soft launch was held for its Rejuvenate Wellness centre and it will soon add dental care, dialysis and aesthetics to its list of services.

Business development director Dr Cheng Qing Nein said having a wellness centre and a clinic within the same building allowed patients to have a more holistic experience with their health.

Dr Cheng added that among the tests conducted at the wellness centre were body composition and nutritional level.

Downstairs, there is a full-fledged clinic headed by general practitioner Dr Kalaivanan Makanthran.

According to Dr Kalaivanan, there were cases where patients could benefit from the alternative approach.

“Not every disease or problem can be cured by medicines.

“I filter though the patients’ stories, find out the root cause of their ailments and if they can be treated without resorting to invasive non-medical therapies.

“So this place functions as a one-stop health centre,” said Dr Kalaivanan.

The company has also introduced a skincare range called Milaya, which focuses on plant-based nutrients from natural ingredients.

Also present at the clinic’s opening was national athletes such as four-time world bodybuilding champion Mohd Syarul Azman Mahen Abdullah, wushu exponent Tan Cheong Min and table-tennis ace Ho Ying, who are the company’s ambassadors.

Dr Cheng said that unlike most conventional brands that used influencers or celebrities, Medicap preferred to focus on athletes.

After its first Rejuvenate Wellness centre was set up in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur in 2017, the company was soon established as the sole marketing arm for the brand.

Today, its wellness centres are in Sibu, Sarikei and Bintulu in Sarawak, Kluang in Johor and Seri Manjung in Perak in addition to its newest outlet in Puchong, Selangor.
