The river trail in Section 14 is the first in Petaling Jaya.
PETALING JAYA residents can have a better experience when taking walks along the Sungai Penchala river trail in Section 14 after its rehabilitation project is completed by the end of this month.
Based on the Environment Department’s Water Quality Index, the river is classified as Class III.
The 700m-long project, which is by the Selangor Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID), will be the first such trail built in the city.
Most of the walkway is completed and the railings are being installed. The project costs RM409,000.
Bukit Gasing assemblyman Rajiv Rishyakaran and Petaling DID deputy district engineer Ezman Embok Zrik visited the project site.
Rajiv said the trail was at 80% completion and expected to be opened to the public by the end of this month.
“This trail goes from Dataran Tiga Dua to the OK-mart side.
“It is partly linked to the Asia Jaya LRT station by walking through Millenium Square,” he said.
He hopes that the river trail will one day connect Sungai Penchala from Damansara Intan in Section 19 to Millennium Square in Section 14, Petaling Jaya.
