Sepang Municipal Council (MPSepang) held a seminar with the aim of improving the competence of contractors and ensuring better work quality from them.

Its president Datuk Abd Hamid Hussain launched the event which was jointly organised by MPSepang, Selangor Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) and Malaysian Society of Arborist.

It was attended by over 750 contractors from all over the country.

Abd Hamid said the “Hari Bersama Kontraktor @Sepang” seminar would add value to contractors’ work.

‘’Providing new knowledge, technology and improving networking between contractors in the construction and maintenance sectors are some of the objectives of this seminar.

“Improving contractors’ competence and quality of work is part of our strategy to attain sustainable development.

“It will also help create a clean and safe environment and improve residents’ quality of life.

“MPSepang will soon go online for contract tenders as we head towards digitalisation.

“Other areas include procurement and advertising,” he said.

Abd Hamid said MPSepang would soon set up a contractor registration database in a bid to improve their competence and quality of work.

He added that contractors who attended the recent seminar would be automatically included in MPSepang’s registry.

Apart from Sepang, there were participants from Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat, Petaling and Klang districts as well as Melaka, Johor and Perak.

Participants received a VCard (Virtual Contact File), where upon scanning via their smartphones, would enable access to the Etender website where they would receive points for attending the seminar.

Accumulated points will help contractors when bidding for new contracts using the digital platform.

Also present were Selangor CIDB director Jasmi Mohd Salleh, MPS tender and contract unit director Nur Hidayati Dahalan and Latif Wagiman representing Malay Contractors Association Malaysia (Selangor).
