Sultan Ismail Hospital (HSI), which opened almost 19 years ago, is currently undergoing upgrades on its building and infrastructure.
Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said that last year, the state government allocated RM670,000 for upgrading works for the hospital.
Onn Hafiz paid a visit to HSI, which is located at Mount Austin in Johor Baru, to see the progress of the upgrades being carried out at the hospital.
“RM500,000 from the allocation was used to upgrade parking bays in the hospital compound.
“About RM95,000 was spent to replace the hospital’s polycarbonate roof while RM75,000 was allocated to place seats at the waiting areas in the hospital,” said Onn Hafiz in a statement posted on his Facebook page recently.
He also congratulated the Public Works Department for executing the task entrusted to them well.
Onn Hafiz was also satisfied with the upgrading works at the parking area in the hospital compound, which would be completed by the end of this month.
“However, there is still more upgrading works that need to be done at the hospital for the benefit of Johoreans,” he added.
Onn Hafiz said he directed state health and unity committee chairman Ling Tian Soon to continue monitoring the upgrading works.
“The state government will discuss with Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa on how HSI will be able to meet the needs of staff, patients and visitors,” he said.
