VISITORS to Aman Central are bound to be wowed by the 6m-high golden tree adorned with red lanterns, golden rabbit and ingot at its central atrium.

The stunning centrepiece at the mall in Alor Setar, Kedah, also depicts red bridges over a stream filled with lotus flowers.

Other bright red lanterns and cherry blossom trees also adorn the central atrium, making it a perfect photo backdrop for the lunar new year.

To usher in the Year of the Rabbit, the mall is rewarding shoppers and lining up exciting activities until Feb 5.

The launch of the mall’s “Precious Season” Chinese New Year campaign saw shoppers and guests being greeted by prosperity lions and the God of Prosperity.

A pulsating performance by a 24 festive drums troupe also helped to kick off the festivities.

Mall owner Belleview Group’s retail and commercial chief operating officer Lawrence Teh said that despite the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, Aman Central continued to maintain its position as a preferred shopping destination in the north.

“For the first time, we will be having a traditional costume contest during Chap Goh Meh,” said Teh.

Kedah housing, environment, unity and Chinese and Siamese community affairs committee chairman Dr Robert Ling Kui Ee, who was the event’s guest of honour, hoped that the celebration would further spread the spirit of unity.

He said he also hoped the mall, which is an important tourist attraction in Kedah, would draw more visitors.

Teh and Ling later tied a red bow on the golden rabbit under the golden tree to mark the start of festivities at the mall.

Also present during the launch were Belleview group director Grace Ho, leasing senior manager Brian Ho, Aman Central’s marketing and communication senior manager Ken Chin and operation senior manager Yeoh Kim Bock.
