THE National Higher Education Fund Corporation’s (PTPTN) annual lucky draw to spur savings for tertiary education is back.

The latest edition of the Cabutan Wow! Simpan SSPN 2023 offers up to RM500,000 for 138 winners of the campaign.

This year, the annual draw, which is part of PTPTN’s efforts to encourage depositors and reward the National Education Scheme (SSPN) savers, covers deposits from Jan 1 to Dec 31.

In addition, there will be five other special draws this year.

They are Wow! Gong Xi Ang Pow (covering the period Jan 1 to Feb 28), Wow! Syoknya Raya (March 1 to May 31), Wow! Merdeka (June 1 to Aug 31), Wow! Superheroes (Sept 1 to Oct 31) and Wow! Y.E.S 2023 from Nov 1 to Dec 31.

“PTPTN is always committed to encouraging the practice of saving for the purpose of higher education,” said Higher Education Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Abdul Razak Jaafar at the launch of the campaign at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

Abdul Razak said those wishing to participate in the campaign would be required to open an account or make additional deposits to Simpan SSPN throughout the campaign period.

“Every RM100 for Simpan SSPN Prime saved during the campaign period will be eligible for one draw and RM50 saved for Simpan SSPN Plus will be eligible for two draws,” he said.

Depositors are also advised to download the myPTPTN mobile app to facilitate transactions and allow them to increase their chances in the draw.

“Simpan SSPN Prime savers who deposit RM100 through myPTPTN will get five chances for the draws whereas Simpan SSPN Plus depositors will get 10 chances if they deposit RM50 through myPTPTN.

“Simpan SSPN is a viable savings option that is competitive with other savings products on the market and offers a good range of advantages and benefits,” said PTPTN chief executive Ahmad Dasuki Abdul Majid.

“PTPTN makes ongoing efforts to ensure that Malaysian community benefits from financial planning through savings products.

“Strategic collaboration with various stakeholders is also increased to ensure the benefits of savings are extended to all levels of society,” he added.

During the launch, certificates of appreciation were presented to the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council( MAIWP), Sabah state government, ATM Veteran Foundation, Kao Laurier Malaysia and Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd (BIMB) for their efforts to use Simpan SSPN to empower and develop saving habits in 2022.

As of Dec 31 last year, Simpan SSPN deposits totaled RM14.24bil, with 5.73 million different accounts.
