Children’s choir ushers in lunar new year to a charitable tune

FIND lion dances a bit loud? Looking for something different to usher in the Year of the Rabbit?

Why not consider The Voices of Dignity, a choir that renders traditional and contemporary festive songs this lunar new year.

As a change from cymbals and drums, treat guests and employees to a medley of Mandarin songs including Tian Mi Mi, Flower Drum, Gong Xi Ni, Ta Fei Nian and Kan Ding.

The 16-person choir is made up of youngsters of various ethnicities – Orang Asli, Indian and Chinese – who had been practising for the celebration.

It is led by Petrina Satvinder, Dignity for Children Foundation co-founder and chief executive officer.

“These children are amazing given the fact that many started without being able to speak a word of English.

“Now they can sing in English and Mandarin, which is a great achievement,” said Petrina in a statement issued by the foundation.

Call +60 13-556 7262 or email sulynn@dignityforchildren.org for enquiries.

The booking fee of RM3,000 is tax deductible and will go towards the education of marginalised children attending school at Dignity.

Dignity has been providing education and holistic care to underprivileged children for the past 24 years.

From 20 students in 1998, Dignity is currently educating 1,860 students.
