PORTIONS of the Jalan B66 Batang Kali-Genting road are open for workers with light vehicles to use.

Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said that the planned roads were for Batang Kali residents to travel to-and-from Genting Highlands.

"It recently opened last week.

"Batang Kali residents would need to get a letter from their employers to allow use of the roads," said Amirudin during the Selangor state government Chinese New Year open house celebration at Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam.

While pointing to a parked sedan, he highlighted that a light vehicle would be approximately that size, no larger than a car (no trucks or lorries).

It was reported on Dec 24 in StarMetro that the Selangor MB had said the road could be opened to light vehicles once reinforcement and road widening works were done.

When asked for the reason for cancelling the flood relief programme that should have been concurrently held during the Chinese New Year celebration, Amirudin responded that he thought it was inappropriate for the celebration.

"The state government thought about giving a donation to the Batang Kali victims but due to the celebration, we might reschedule it to another day," he said.
