PENANG MCA has called on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to form a unity government council at both the state and federal levels to ensure people’s voices are heard.
Its chairman Datuk Tan Teik Cheng said Penang MCA would continue to voice out and keep its service centre open to serve Penangites.
“Although MCA is part of the unity government, the party will continue to voice out to ensure check and balance,” he said.
“We hope Anwar will ensure that the elections which are due this year in six states will be held simultaneously.
“This will save time and trouble, and allow the government to focus on rebuilding the economy,” he added during the Penang MCA media night.
Penang, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu have yet to hold their state elections.
The media night event saw guests taking part in a yee sang tossing session with Penang MCA leaders and members.
There was also a karaoke singing competition at the dinner held at FuHouse Restaurant in Pusat Perniagaan Setia Sentral, Bukit Mertajam.
Tan also thanked media personnel for their commitment in highlighting issues through their work.
