AN OPEN-concept community hall costing RM500,000 will be built to replace the structurally unsound Dewan Ahmad Jantan in Kampung Pandan, Selangor.
Pandan Indah assemblyman Izham Hashim said the funds would be allocated from the Selangor Penyayang initiative and works were expected to start in March.
“The original structure is no longer safe and has to be demolished.
“The open-concept hall will be cheaper and suitable for community events as well as sports activities,” he said.
Open concept here refers to a building with a roof and no walls on the sides and the front.
The Selangor Penyayang initiative is a commitment by the state government to improve, maintain and upgrade public facilities in every state constituency.
As previously announced by Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, priority would be given to infrastructure maintenance and upgrading projects that did not have annual maintenance allocations.
Izham, who is state infrastructure, public amenities, agriculture modernisation and agro-based industry committee chairman, said this after launching the recently completed Dewan MPAJ Perwira Jaya in Kampung Perwira Jaya, Ampang Jaya, an open-concept hall.
With this latest addition, now there are six open-concept halls in the state, he added.
The RM605,000 Dewan MPAJ Perwira Jaya can be rented for RM100 per hour for weddings and other community-related events.
Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) president Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim hoped residents in the area would take care of this facility and prevent vandalism.
The 3,011sq m hall is equipped with a meeting room, toilets and 12 parking bays.
